Wild Nothing

In His Own Words. Masses Director, Matt Amato, on his vivid new music video for Wild Nothing:

“This video combines a lot of personal loves: music, books, nature and friendship. I loved Wild Nothing the moment I heard their first record Gemini and I jumped at the opportunity to make a video for the new record, Nocturne. My instincts told me to send Michelle Williams the three tracks they were considering for a video and she chose, Paradise. The Harinezumi camera gave us the freedom to make something on our own with no fuss and keep it personal and real. The particular beauty of the camera and the way it plays with light and color is always a kind of unpredictable experiment that I welcome. I handed a camera over to an actual commercial pilot who was able to get the shots from the cockpit that are so important to the video. Over the time I had to prepare for this experience, I thought of the Iris Murdoch passage from The Word Child. Michelle and I are both avid readers and somehow this seemed to fit the scenario in a most natural way. Also apropos, we recorded Michelle’s reading at the Rare Book Room Recording Studio, where the band recorded Nocturne.”
