Flaunt Magazine

Flaunt Magazine travels through underground L.A. with an epic feature that connects different strands of the city’s art, music and film communities. Writer Marc-Eduard Leon traveled with the Masses to the Marfa Film Festival in May, 2008. Accompanying photos by Ashley Haber highlight an epic journey in a bus owned by Masses member Alex Ebert, whose band, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, performed an epic closing-night set.Writes Leon of the final night of the Marfa Film Festival, which featured a screening of Heath Ledger’s video for Grace Woodroof’s “Quicksand,” and a performance by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros: “[B]y the time I reached the venue, it was packed and spilling out into the parking lot. There were so many people that it was practically impossible to distinguish the band from the audience. Marfans were drunk with anticipation, and as soon as Edward Sharpe began to play, they all started dancing and singing at the top of their lungs.”
