In his music video for Meg Myers‘ “Monster,” director A.P. Fischer gives us an open look at the desolate form love can take when a relationship becomes one-sided. The video hands us over Meg who stands alone, vulnerable in the dark, with only her raw beauty and candid honesty there to fully illuminate the power of the song. In framing her alone, A.P. communicates an authentic portrayal of the singer who wears her emotion in every gesture and sings her heartbreak directly into the camera. Coupled with isolated silhouettes and exquisite underwater cinematography, this video reminds us how scary love can be and that maybe monsters do exist–even if they are in the dark corners of our own self.
